Band Bio
In
October, 2005, B Street Blues was voted one of the five best blues bands in
Boston at the
2005 Boston Blues Challenge!
B Street Blues is a four piece power blues machine; their live performance exudes excitement and energy and is a must see experience. The sizzling guitar work, solid bottom end, and cutting edge vocals blend to form a cohesive unit of electrifying classic and modern blues. Blues Critic had this to say about their initial CD offering, B Street Blues Live: "... They prove to be a competent four-piece, delivering steady power blues on three originals and three covers. ..."
B Street Blues is Norm T (Tiedemann) on vocals and guitar, Dave Schaefer on drums and vocals, and Chris
"Chez" Chesna on bass.
Each individual brings with them mastership of their instrument that, when combined, forms a whole greater than the sum of the individual parts; a cohesion that plays easy on the ear and is a thrill to experience live. Their repertoire runs the gamut of the blues ranging from exciting and driving to searing and sublime, and is often ethereal and sweet. There is something here to satisfy every blues aficionado.
B Street Blues Personnel Backgrounder
Norm T (Tiedemann) - Vocals, Guitar
Norm T first picked up the guitar in 1967 and has been playing for nearly 40 years. He started playing in rock and roll bands in high school for community outings and high school dances. He graduated to the club scene in his 20s playing both as an integral part of a band, and performing solo gigs with an acoustic guitar. He turned pro in the 70s devoting all his time and energies to music. During his musical career he has played numerous venues including Convention Hall in Atlantic City, NJ where he played to a crowd of 10,000. His influences are many having grown up through 60's, and 70's and include such guitar greats as Eric Clapton, BB King, Duane Allman, Dickey Betts, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and others. His long experience shines through in his sizzling leads and authoritative vocals.
Dave Schaefer
- Drums, vocals
Dave grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he played and taught drums since he was 13 years old. His band Atlantic Brass double billed with such groups as The Ohio Players, Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods, and was the chosen band to perform numerous times on the field for "Teen night" for the Cincinnati Reds, at Riverfront Stadium.
Dave graduated Magna Cum Laude from the prestigious Berklee College of Music in 1980 with a degree in Music Composition. He was musical director of the show band, East Coast Muscle, and went on the road, touring with pop stars Gloria Gaynor, and Edwin Starr (War, Good Gawd Y'all, What is it good for?).
Chris "Chez" Chesna - Bass
Chris "Chez" Chesna picked up his first guitar at 7 and has not stopped since. At 13, Chris taught himself the saxophone and joined the local high school band. At age 15, he became a serious student of the bass. Chris studied electric and upright bass under Prof. Marc Henry at the University of Lowell in 1990 and began teaching privately. He has since been a staple of the Boston area music scene. Performances vary from cruise ships to large corporate events. He has also performed and/or recorded with band members of Chuck Berry, the Count Basie Orchestra, Iggy Pop, and the Blue Man Group. Musical influences include Pat Metheny, Jeff Berlin, Michael Brecker, Van Halen, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Ludwig v. Beethoven, Jaco Pastorius, Jack Dejohnette, and BB King, to name a few. He is a resident instructor of bass, guitar, and sax at the Music Academy of Chelmsford. Chris continues to pursue the passion of making music and sharing its priceless gift with others.
